I recently re-designed a website for my long-standing client Drives Online. Having previously built their site on the OpenCart platform they wanted to update the site to have more control over all the content on the site. Looking at their requirements WordPress/WooCommerce was the answer as it gives you full control over the products and content on the site.

The move from OpenCart to WooCommerce was a complex task as every item (inverter drive) had its own specific size and power outputs with a unique specification. With over 1000 products this information had to be entered manually, which I quickly realised would be a time-consuming task.

My aim was to ensure the work was completed within the specified timescales. So, my objective was to come up with a way to reduce the time spent on product upload. I developed a unique excel spreadsheet that could be updated as new products were introduced, and enabled in multiple bulk uploads, rather than having to access the backend of the site and enter products individually.

The new website has been well received by both Drives Online and their clients reaffirming their position as one of the UK’s leading distributors of inverter motor drivers.
